Austin Vascular Specialists is medical and surgical practice in Austin, Texas that specializes in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the vascular circulation. We are experts in the management of conditions affecting the artery and vein circulation throughout the body. We are a long-standing and respected member of the Society for Vascular Surgery.

Austin Vascular Specialists manages blood vessel diseases through a combination of pharmaceutical therapies, endovascular procedures, and open vascular surgeries. Endovascular therapies include such treatments as catheterization, angiograms, angioplasty, stenting, laser, atherectomy, and thrombolysis. Open vascular surgeries include bypass grafts, carotid endarterctomy, aneurysm repair, and blood clot removal.

Austin Vascular Specialists is a vascular center of excellence.  Our facility is composed of vascular physicans, registered vascular technologists, and medical technicians with years of experience managing patients with vascular diseases.  Our vascular clinic has a full-time ultrasound department in which we perform all types of non-invasive vascular testing. We perform diagnostic artery and vein ultrasounds daily from 8 am to 5 pm.  Austin Vascular Specialists has been providing vascular services to Austin Texas and the surrounding areas for over 14 years.

Board-Certified Vascular Specialists

The physicians at Austin Vascular Specialists are board-certified vascular surgeons.  Board-certification in vascular surgery is accomplished by completing medical school, surgery residency training, and then fellowship training in vascular surgery.   The medical director of our facility, Dr. Joel Gotvald, is board-certified in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.  Dr. Gotvald is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is a long-standing Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (FSVS), the highest level of recognition for vascular surgeons in the country.

Experienced Vascular Surgeons

We perform all of the latest modern vascular therapies available, with a focus on minimally-invasive procedures.  These less invasive options are referred to as Endovascular Surgery.  Some of the more common circulation procedures that we perform include the use of stents, stent-grafts, lasers, atherectomy devices, radiofrequency therapy, drug-coated angioplasty balloons, intra-vascular ultrasound imaging (IVUS), EKOS ultrasonic catheter therapy, catheter-based tPA thrombolysis, vascular embolization, VenaSeal, and Varithena therapy.  These therapies are applied in the treatment of diseases of the arteries and veins throughout the body.  Some of these procedures are office-based while other are performed in a surgery center or a hospital.   In addition to our expertise in endovascular procedures, we also have decades of experience in open vascular surgery as well.
