At Austin Vascular & Vein Specialists we have dedicated Vein & Laser Centers in Austin & Round Rock Texas at which we perform state-of-the-art treatments for varicose veins and spider veins of the legs. Cardiovascular Specialists

Our vascular and vein specialists are leading experts in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases. Our cardiovascular specialists are highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral artery diseases (i.e. PAD or PVD), carotid artery diseases , artery atherosclerosis and dissections, claudication, and aneurysms. Common vein conditions that we treat includes deep venous thrombosis (DVT), blood clots, varicose veins, spider veins, and venous reflux disease. Our vascular specialists are also experts in the workup and management of circulation conditions that lead to leg & ankle swelling, leg or foot pain, or and ankle / foot ulcers & wounds.   We also specialize in diagnostic screening tests for vascular circulation problems throughout the body.  We commonly screen for poor circulation in the legs and arms, aortic aneurysms, and carotid artery stenosis.  We frequently do diagnostic workup for symptoms of leg pain or leg swelling that may results from poor circulation.

Dr. Joel Gotvald, MD, FACS, FSVS, the director of our vascular center,  performed a formal residency and fellowship in vascular, endovascular, and vein interventions.  Dr. Gotvald is a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), is a long-standing Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (FSVS), and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).  Dr. Gotvald  has two active board-certifications.  He is board-certified in Vascular Surgery by the Vascular Board of the American Board of Surgery.  He is phlebology certified in venous and lymphatic disease management by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM).  Lastly, he is board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).

Austin Vascular & Vein Ultrasound Department

Austin Vascular Specialists includes a full-time Vascular Ultrasound Department.   We offer vascular screening to assess for aneurysms, peripheral artery disease (PAD) , i.e. hardening of the arteries due to plaque, carotid artery stenosis (which can lead to strokes), peripheral venous disease, varicose vein disease, and blood clots.  We provide testing to evaluate for poor circulation contributing to leg pain or leg swelling.  Our vascular center has the best available equipment to allow for the most detailed evaluation of those at risk for vascular disease due to medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiac disease, stroke, high cholesterol, smoking, or family history of blood vessel diseases. The presence of the ultrasound department within our vascular center allows you to get any necessary blood vessel imaging studies on the day of your physician visit. Your results are also available immediately.
